We left from Corbridge this morning. Good news, no one played rugby! After a quick breakfast two grumpy cyclists made their way up some hills around some corners and continued through the repetitive climbs. Our surroundings have been nothing but hills and fields. Not bad but as expected more sheep, more cows and plenty of horse sh**. We have started giving the sheep names! The name thats stuck the most must be Mr. Wellington!
Anyways after 15 miles we had a moment of weakness. Rain, wind and hills were against us. We found shelter next to a small pub under a bridge. After getting into a pub, we grabbed a pot of tea, started drying ourselves and charging our equipment. The weather cheered up soon after finishing the tea. We were on the road again.
Nothing kept us back! We powered through and tackled the next 50km like kings. We had a great boost of energy when the sun came out. Getting to West Auckland on schedule after all we thought we'd kick it up a notch and follow through to Darlington! What a trek that was!
All in all the roads have flattened out slowly and we believe the worst holds of the entire trip are over.
